Planning from Estimates: Sensitivity of Mine Production Schedules to Estimation Methods

Part of the book series: NATO Advanced Study Institutes Series ((ASIC,volume 24))

Abstract

By necessity, all the planning in an open pit mine is done on the basis of estimated values. Since it is not these estimated values that are mined, but rather the real values which were unknown at the time of planning, discrepancies will occur between what was planned and what is achieved.
