Abstract
Factorial analysis has been used to study the yield components in faba beans. Different results were obtained depending on the kind of material studied. The differences were due to the different genetic architecture of these materials. It has been shown to be important to take account of the genetics of the characters included in the study to explain the results.
Application of this method to a set of F2s showed that the most important characters influencing yield, were seeds/plant, pods/node and pods/flower.
