Two-Dimensional Suprasternal Echocardiography in Diseases of the Thoracic Aorta

Abstract

Although M-mode echocardiography may be useful for detecting aortic abnormalities, the method lacks spatial orientation. False positive or false negative findings may be artefacts of the direction of the single ultrasonic beam [1]. The better spatial orientation of cross-sectional echocardiography should enable more comprehensive examinations to be made.
