Abstract

This review will concentrate on the observed properties of dust spectral features. Related laboratory results are reviewed by Allamandola (1983) and will not be discussed here, but identifications, which are based on laboratory data, will be given whenever plausible ones exist. There are a very large number of papers in the literature of even such a young field as infrared spectroscopy, and it is impossible to refer to all of the original sources in a short review such as this one. I have therefore referred only to the most recent paper on a topic or to another review, and the reader will have to go back through, successive reference lists to find the original work.
