Tectonic inhomogeneities of the Kristiansund—Bodø Fault Complex, offshore mid-Norway

  • Conference paper
Petroleum Geology of the North European Margin

Abstract

The continental shelf offshore mid-Norway is dominated by a system of NE to ENE- and N-trending structures for which the name ‘Kristiansund-Bodø Fault Complex’ is proposed. On this system a less conspicuous regional NW structural trend is superimposed. The directional trends of these fracture systems find their counterparts in parallel structural trends onshore mid-Norway. Comparison of the different segments of the Kristiansund-Bodø Fault Complex reveals a complicated structural history, being different for the various parts of the fault complex. This is believed to be a consequence not only of difference in timing of tectonic events, but also of differences in stress situation for the segments.
