Abstract
Energetic ions and electrons penetrating the interfaces between metallic, semiconducting and insulating solids have been shown to enhance the adhesion between these materials. This process is proposed as a means of fusing aggregates of silicate- iron core particles and/or core-mantle particles to form Brownlee particles. It is discussed in light of models for the evolution of cometary grains described at this conference.
