Abstract

In order to investigate the pattern of the F-M 100-hue test in acquired blue-yellow defects, the F-M 100-hue test was administered to 42 patients with central serous chorioretinopathy and with typical blue-yellow confusions at the panel D-15 test. The patterns for the F-M 100-hue test were analyzed using an objective method (Kitahara, 1985a).

The results were as follows: The total F-M 100-hue test error scores for the 42 cases ranged from 104 to 424 with a mean value of 261.5 and a standard deviation (SD) of 78.9. The degree of the polarity showed a mean value of 0.738, an SD of 0.235 with a range from 0.367 to 1.375. It was considered that all cases had a particular orientation axis of the hue errors. The range of the cap number of the orientation axes of the hue errors was − 0.620 (84.380) to 6.758 and the mean values and SD of the orientation axes of the hue errors were 3.887 and 1.654 respectively. As a result, it was felt that this range of the orientation axes (84.380 to 6.758) could be used as a standard for diagnosing blue-yellow defects by means of the F-M 100-hue test.
