Abstract
Worms were measured and their biovolumes estimated. Measurements show that the biovolume (V) of Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri was significantly correlated with the diameter of the segment \( {\rm{XI}}({{\rm{d}}_{{\rm{XI}}}}):{\rm{V = 13}}{\rm{.553}}{{\rm{d}}_{{\rm{XI}}}}^{2.987}({{\rm{r}}^2} = 0.92) \). Production was estimated for L. hoffmeisteri and for a population of Tubificidae with hair setae where Potamothrix heuscheri dominated, using the “Hynes method” reviewed by Menzie (1980). The P/B ratios of L. hoffmeisteri and Tubificidae with hair setae were 4.9 and 5.4.
