Ultrasound findings in brawny scleritis

  • Chapter
Ultrasonography in Ophthalmology 12

Part of the book series: Documenta Ophthalmologica Proceedings Series ((DOPS,volume 53))

Abstract

Brawny or nodular scleritis is a relatively rare disease which is not always easy to diagnose clinically. Up to the present only seven cases of this disease have been described in the echographic literature (Chang et al., 1980; Ossoinig and Harrie, 1983; Green, 1987)

This report deals with two cases we have examined during the last five years. The echographic findings are quite unusual and are extensively described in order to explain the interpretation of the images which allow an accurate diagnosis.
