Abstract

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complicated and huge knowledge system with a long history. As the information technology step forward, more and more problems about how to deal with plentiful TCM information come up. First of all, so we should normalize terminology in TCM, and use these terms to deal with TCM information. Then, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Language System (TCMLS) emerges as needed. Now, TCMLS has been the biggest ontology in the domain of TCM. It has been researched and developed for over ten years. And totally, more than 120,000 concepts and more than 600,000 terms have been added. Except this, other studies such as sematic research, system evaluation and application for TCMLS have been paid attention to. In short, the evolution of development and application for TCMLS will be briefly focused in this paper.
