Abstract
ST3Gal-III is a CMP-N-acetylneuraminate: β-galactoside α2-3-sialyltransferase (Galβ1-3(4)GlcNAc α2-3-sialyltransferase). Like other sialyltransferases, ST3Gal-III exhibits type II membrane protein topology and has characteristic motifs for sialyltransferases which are called sialylmotifs L, S, and VS. ST3Gal-III also has a Kurosawa motif as seen in the ST3Gal family and two members of the ST6GalNAc family (Tsuji 1999).
