Zusammenfassung
In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten lag der Forschungsschwerpunkt im Dienstleistungsmarketing auf Fragestellungen der Dienstleistungsqualität. Seit kurzem zeichnet sich ein Trend zur stärkeren Erforschung der Dienstleistungsproduktivität ab. Dafür gibt es eine Vielzahl von Gründen: In immer mehr Volkswirtschaften macht der Dienstleistungssektor den Großteil der Wertschöpfung aus. In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erzielte der tertiäre Sektor im Jahre 2009 72,3 Prozent des BIP, in den USA bereits 76,9 Prozent (CIA Worldfact Book, 2010). Besonders im Hinblick auf Wachstums- und Beschäftigungswirkung sowie internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von in Hochlohnländern erstellten Dienstleistungen, sind Produktivitätssteigerungen essentiell und bedürfen wissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen, um ein umfassendes Verständnis der Dienstleistungsproduktivität zu erhalten. Produktivitätswachstum ist eine entscheidende makroökonomische Voraussetzung, um den langfristigen Wohlstand von Ökonomien sicherzustellen. Aus betriebswirtschaftlicher Perspektive werden Kostenvorteile geschaffen und somit die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von Unternehmen sichergestellt. Externe Faktoren, wie z.B. die europäische Dienstleistungsrichtlinie und steigende Lohnkosten, verschärfen den Druck auf Dienstleister, ihre Produktivität zu optimieren. Bereits Drucker (1991) wies darauf hin, dass Produktivitätssteigerungen im Dienstleistungsbereich die wirtschaftliche Hauptaufgabe entwickelter Staaten sei.
