Abstract

There is currently a spectrum ranging from 0.5% to 10% incidence of infection in the neurosurgical literature. In a recent retrospective study it has been found that the incidence of infection for neurosurgical patients was 7.4% in the urinary tract, 2.2% in neurosurgical wounds, 2.1% in respiratory system and 1.08% miscellaneous1.
