Abstract
Lumpy skin disease is an acute, subacute or inapparent viral disease of cattle, characterised by fever and the sudden appearance of firm circumscribed skin nodules which usually undergo necrosis. Similar lesions may be present in the skeletal muscles and the mucosae of the digestive and respiratory tracts. A subcutaneous oedema of the limbs and ventral parts of the body and a generalized lymphadenitis are also characteristic of the disease.
