Zusammenfassung

Das Frühcarcinom (early gastric cancer) ist definiert als Carcinom, das nur die Mucosa bzw. die Mucosa und Submucosa infiltriert hat, unabhängig vom Nachweis von Lymphknotenmetastasen. Entscheidendes Kriterium ist somit, daß die Muscularis propria tumorfrei ist. Der Begriff „Frühcarcinom“ täuscht ein zeitliches Stadium im Ablauf der Carcinomentwicklung vor, das nicht gegeben sein muß. Das Frühcarcinom kann in diesem Stadium bereits mehrere Jahre bestanden haben und noch weitere Jahre persistieren. Es handelt sich also nicht um ein frühes Carcinom im chronologischhistogenetischen Sinn [15, 44, 47, 72].
