Zusammenfassung
Im Zusammenhang mit neuen Arbeits- und Organisationsmodellen, der sogenannten „New Work“, wird häufig auch eine neue Organisationskultur gefordert. Unklar ist aber, was genau darunter verstanden wird. Der Beitrag zeigt auf, was eine solche Kultur kennzeichnet und warum sie sinnvoll sein kann. Dazu wird auf das Schichtenmodell nach Edgar Schein zurückgegriffen und „New Work“ mit „traditioneller“ Arbeit verglichen. Das Ergebnis zeigt, dass die Sache mit der „New Work“-Kultur nicht so einfach ist, wie es zunächst erscheint. Unternehmen ergreifen zwar Aktivitäten in Richtung „New Work“, diese verbleiben jedoch oft an der Oberfläche der Organisation, ihr kultureller Kern bleibt unverändert. Eine Ping-Pong-Platte ist dann ein beispielhaftes, sichtbares Symbol, das für ein „New Work-Unternehmen“ aber noch lange nicht ausreicht. Eine „New Work-Kultur“ beinhaltet somit ein Dilemma und es besteht die Gefahr, dass „New Work“ eine Worthülse bleibt. Die größte Hürde stellen selbstverständlich gewordene Denkstrukturen in Organisationen dar. Um eine „New Work-Kultur“ nachhaltig umzusetzen, braucht es daher vor allem ein „New Work Mindset“.
