Zusammenfassung
Bei erweitertem Anlageträger-Screening (Expanded Carrier Screening, ECS) werden Paare mit Kinderwunsch daraufhin untersucht, ob beide Partner, ohne es zu wissen, die genetische Anlage für die gleiche rezessiv vererbbare seltene Erkrankung tragen. In diesem Fall bestünde für Kinder des Paares eine erhöhte Wahrscheinlichkeit, diese Krankheit zu bekommen. Der Beitrag beleuchtet zwei Aspekte in der Entwicklung und Vermarktung dieser neuen, bisher nur als kommerzielle „Direct-to-consumer“-Angebote verfügbaren Tests: Zum einen bezieht die sozio-technische Vision eines bevölkerungsweiten und vorschwangerschaftlichen Screenings (wird schon vor einer Schwangerschaft getestet, bestehen mehr „Optionen“, die Geburt eines kranken Kindes zu vermeiden) ihre Plausibilität aus den Selbsthilfe-Initiativen spezifischer Betroffenengruppen, die sich aber kaum auf heterogene Bevölkerungen übertragen lassen. Zum anderen stützen sich die Direct-to-consumer-Angebote für ECS auf die Idee und Rhetorik einer personalisierten Medizin. Doch genetisches Wissen kann das Versprechen einer individuell maßgeschneiderten Präzisions-Medizin nur sehr begrenzt erfüllen und weist zudem eine „trans-individuelle“ Dimension auf, die schnell in normative Konflikte führen kann.
