Zusammenfassung

Die moderne pathologische Anatomie der rheumatischen Infektion baut sich zum großen Teil auf den zum erstenmal von Aschoff und Tawara im Jahre 1904 beobachteten rheumatischen Granulomen auf, die auch lange Zeit als die einzige charakteristische morphologische Unterlage der rheumatischen Infektion galten. Zwar hatte auch schon Aschoff beobachtet, daß in den rheumatisch veränderten Organen und Geweben außer den charakteristischen Zellen und Zellanhäufungen auch entstehende Fibrinmengen vorkamen, doch wurde dies lange Zeit für weniger wesentlich gehalten.

„Zusammengefaßt ergibt die allgemeine Betrachtung der rheumatischen Schäden im Körper, daß es sich bei dieser Krankheit um eine über den ganzen Organismus weit verbreitete Schädigung, in erster Linie des Mesenchyms und da wieder des gesamten Gefäß- und Bindegewebes handelt, die kein Organ verschont“ (Klinge).
