Balances in Man-Made Lakes (Bohemia)

Coupling of Land and Water Systems

Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 10))

Abstract

Nitrogen and phosphorus are being used increasingly in the agriculture of many countries. How much remains on land, and how quickly the extra input passes to and through local water bodies, is a question of broad interest. Research on selected reservoirs and the land upstream from them is beginning to provide information showing that the answer may be quite different for these elements of fertilizer and organic matter.
