Abstract

Besides conductivity measurements, the specific contribution of this work is to present dielectric measurements of conductive composites in the microwave region. The composite materials are made of polypyrrole inan insulating phase. Two kinds of materials have been investigated: blends (polypyrrole in butyl elastomer, polypyrrole in epoxy resin) and in situ composites (chemical synthesis of polypyrrole in a PTFE emulsion). Dielectric measurements permit to know the variation of the complex dielectric constant (ɛ* = ɛ′ - jɛ″), with frequency from 130 MHz ot 18 GHz. In the range of frequency investigated a plot of log (ɛ″) versus log (frequency) is linear with a slope S. Interesting informations about structure of materials and nature of particles aggregation are given by S.
