Abstract
In 1976, the Gastrointestinal Group of the EORTC activated a clinical trial on rectal cancer with the aim of studying the efficacy of high-dose preoperative irradiation therapy (34.5 Gy) as an adjuvant before radical surgery. This was a multicentric prospective phase-III clinical trial.
Trial of the Gastrointestinal Tract Cancer Cooperative Group of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).
