Abstract

Over the past several years, the appropriate use of antiemetics has increased, as has the ability to control chemotherapy-associated nausea and vomiting. With greater use of chemotherapy and with the development of newer agents in which emesis is a major side-effect, the need for improved control of nausea and vomiting has become an important consideration in medical oncology and in supportive care. The primary objective of this paper is to provide a practical guide that discusses some of the major issues in the antiemetic approach to the patient receiving chemotherapy.
