Abstract
The manifestations of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are not only reflected in simple movements, but particularly in other functions of everyday life, including the execution of complex tasks such as handwriting or walking. The study of complex movements requires decomposition of the performance, allowing the analysis of specific constituents and elucidation of deficits at different levels of motor organization [16]. Several approaches have been used in the analysis of complex motor tasks in PD. This manuscript will mainly focus on the techniques used in these studies, trying to illuminate the advantages and limitations of quantitative methods when analyzing complex movements in PD, with special emphasis on kinematic measurements.
