Abstract
Modeling the transport of reactive solutes in natural porous media requires a multidisciplinary approach which involves chemistry, biochemistry, fluid mechanics, system dynamics, thermodynamics, kinetics, etc. Some concepts originating from these sciences reveal themselves to be powerful tools for modeling purposes, and for understanding what is occuring in the porous medium. For the sake of simplicity, we will essentially focus on the main tools necessary to model the transient behavior of linearly interacting solutes, and will exclude biochemical phenomena.
