Chronic Pancreatitis

Abstract

Pancreatic ascites is defined as the persistent accumulation of “massive” amounts of intraperitoneal fluid during the course of chronic pancreatitis which is characterized by a high amylase level and a high protein content, usually over 3 g/1 [14]. In most cases the ascites is serous in nature, but it may be serosanguinous, turbid or chylous.
