Abstract
New metabolic activities of angiotensin, apart from its potent vasocon- strictive action, have been described recently (1, 3, 10, 11, 13). The existence of iso-renins in extrarenal tissues has gained increasing attention over the last 2 years (2, 4, 6). We have reported that the brain of brain of dogs contains a complete renin-angiotensin being present in this tissue when their origin from the kidney is excluded (5, 7). We now wish to report new findings on iso-renins in arterial tissue and heart muscle of dogs.
