Abstract
It is well known that cutaneous infections complicate atopic eczema; viruses, particularly herpes virus hominis, are a serious problem. It has been suggested that the susceptibility of patients with these infections to such viruses is a consequence of multiple immunological abnormalities that are associated with atopic dermatitis. Other virus infections common in eczematous children include warts and mollusca contagiosa.
