Abstract
The subject of this workshop is centered on brain stem and basal ganglia. One of the important anatomic structures is the fiber tract of the motor system, usually called the pyramidal tract. The localization and functional representation of the motor cortex is well known. Very little, however, is known about the exact course of this fiber tract from the cortex down to the internal capsule. In addition no study exists on the extent of displacement of the fibers of the pyramidal tract by pathologic processes such as tumors located anteriorly or posteriorly in the neighborhood of this fiber tract.
