Abstract
The process of the clinical application of the artificial heart is shown in Fig. 1. Patients with cardiogenic shock after cardiac surgery or myocardial infarction are treated with conventional cardiotherapy, e.g., pharmaceutical. If the therapy is not effective, arteriovenous or intra-aortic balloon pumping is indicated.
