Abstract
It is now almost 20 years since Dotter first published on percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, and almost 10 years since Grüntzig made improvements to the technique which remain the standard of practice today. A lot has been learned about the technique, the devices, and the principles but a lot more has to be learned and many improvements can still be made.
