Abstract
Evolution of coronary artery disease is characterized by a broad spectrum of pathological patterns identified by means of repeated coronary angiography. An exact classification is difficult for several reasons:
-
1.
Progression of coronary artery disease might very well be different in each patient, or even in each individual coronary artery.
-
2.
Subjective estimation of changes in coronary anatomy from angiograms is fraught with both intra- and interobserver variability.
-
3.
The degree of obstruction might change due to disproportionate vasodilation of the prestenotic and the stenotic segment, either spontaneously or after application of vasodilator drugs.
