Abstract
In business, small computing systems are used mainly by unexperienced users. Program systems for commercial applications are generally complex, due to the high number of interdependent functions and data. Such software can only be offered economically if it is supplied to several users. Therefore, software for small computing systems requires reliability, robustness, flexibility and user friendliness as well as rentability. Available programming languages do not have sufficient properties to enforce the development and maintenance of programs meeting these requirements.
This report focuses on a programming aid generating complete program systems for commercial applications. The main functions of the generator and the high level programming language for the input are outlined. The application of the generator is demonstrated using detailed examples.
The generator has been applied for the complete generation of a standard accounting- system which is in use in more than seventy companies. The success of the generator is based on the modularity and the consistent administration of the elements as well as on the interactive programming interface.
