Segmental Idiopathic Necrosis of the Femoral Head

Part of the book series: Progress in Orthopaedic Surgery ((ORTHOPAEDIC,volume 5))

Abstract

Various operation methods can change the position of the femoral head. These are varization, valgization, flexion, and rotational osteotomies (Cartier et al. 1972; Endler 1972; Merle d’Aubigne et al. 1965; Sugioka 1973; Willert and Sarfer 1974). With Sugioka’s method for avascular necrosis of the femoral head, a maximum of correction of the joint surface can be obtained (Fig. 1).
