Abstract
Epidemiologic studies in atherosclerotic diseases have in the past been primarily concerned with investigations of the relative and absolute incidence of the several clinical manifestations of narrowing and obstruction of the coronary arteries by atheromatours plaques, ulceration and thrombotic complications. The major manifestation is, of course, myocardial infarction (MI). The concern with coronary heart disease has been largely due to the relatively higher frequency of coronary occlusive disease found in younger males and the relative ease of diagnosis of cardiac disorders.
