Carbonate Construction and Decomposition by Epilithic and Endolithic Micro-organisms in Salt- and Freshwater

  • Conference paper
Fossil Algae

Abstract

In the carbonate cycle micro-organisms such as Cyanophytes, Chlorophytes, Rhodophytes, fungi ~md lichens play an important and often decisive role. Some build up carbonate, some destroy carbonates and others can do both simultaneously.
