Abstract
Previous results of one of these laboratories led to the assumption of the existence of an increased tissue pressure in edematous brain areas. Locally increased brain tissue pressures are likely to be involved in the redistribution of regional cerebral blood flow, observed following brain lesions (1–4).
This investigation was supported by a grant from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
The experiments reported here, were performed in the laboratory of Neuropathology and Neuroanatomical Sciences, NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, USA.
