Abstract

Chronic pancreatitis is characterized by recurrent or persistent abdominal pain with destruction and permanent loss of exocrine pancreatic parenchyma. The irreversible morphological changes in the pancreas may lead to a progressive or permanent loss of exocrine and endocrine pancreatic function [1].
