Abstract
For good clinical results in abdominal hernia surgery, a perfect correspondence is required between the mechanical aspects of the abdominal wall and the mechanical aspects of the biomaterial used for repair. By using biomaterial for abdominal wall reinforcement or even replacement, the surgeon should try to stick as close to the original as possible in an attempt to imitate nature.
