Zusammenfassung

Natürlicher D-Campher wurde in China bereits vor unserer Zeitrechnung aus dem Holz des Campherbaumes gewonnen und medizinisch verwendet. In einer der ersten deutschsprachigen Monographien über Campher aus dem [ahr 1793 [5] wird die Substanz als „Belebungsmittel“ bezeichnet und ein entsprechender Anwendungsfall berichtet. Über die toxischen Eigenschaften wird ausgeführt, dass bei gesunden Menschen, die größere Dosen Campher eingenommen hatten, Betrunkenheit, Schwindel, Magenbrennen, langsamer Puls, Schläfrigkeit und Krämpfe auftraten.
