Abstract
The corpus cardiacum of the blowfly Calliphora erythrocephala contains neurosecretory cells (the c.n.c.) axons of which together with some extrinsic n.s. axons occupy a medullary portion, the c. card, neuropile. Here n.s. substances are stored and—upon appropriate stimulation—released into the haemolymph (Normann, 1965, 1969; Normann and Duve, 1969).
