Zusammenfassung
Hodenfehllagen (Maldescensus testis, Synonyme: Retentio testis, Hodendystopie und -ektopie, Kryptorchismus) gehören zu den häufigsten Anomalien des äußeren Genitales und sind aufgrund ihrer Prävalenz und klinischen Relevanz eine Thematik, der alle, die Säuglinge und Kleinkinder untersuchen, regelmäßig in Klinik und Praxis begegnen. Unbehandelt birgt der Maldescensus testis ein vermindertes Fertilitätspotenzial sowie ein erhöhtes Neoplasierisiko des betroffenen Hodens. Die rechtzeitige Diagnose und adäquate Therapie ist daher essenziell in der Behandlung nichtdeszendierter Hoden. Bis zu 4 % der Neugeborenen haben eine angeborene indirekte Hernie mit konsekutiver Hydrozelenbildung. Bei einer asymptomatischen Hydrozele als Folge eines persistierenden offenen Processus vaginalis (indirekte Hernie) kann zunächst abgewartet werden, da dieser bis Ende des 2. Lebensjahres obliterieren kann. Die operative Korrektur kann entweder offen über einen Leistenschnitt oder laparoskopisch erfolgen.
