Abstract

The paper presents an overview of telematic solutions applicable in urban areas. Such solutions should contribute to a significant improvement of the urban transportation, while solving the cities’ current traffic problems. A lot of isolated solutions can already be found in Polish cities; however, one must think about their propagation, preferably, in the overall (system) scale. Therefore, the most suitable stage shall be selected, best corresponding to the state of transport infrastructure in the given town, while taking into consideration the costs of introducing such systems. The alternative solutions are the slow "step-by-step" ones.
