Zusammenfassung
Die Überwachung umfasst die Beobachtung, Messung und Registrierung veränderlicher Funktionen des Intensivpatienten. Ihr wesentliches Ziel ist die frühzeitige Erkennung von Störungen des physiologischen Gleichgewichts und die Erfolgskontrolle therapeutischer Maßnahmen. Die Überwachung muss zielgerichtet und systematisch erfolgen, nicht zufällig oder willkürlich, weil die Überwachungsgeräte zur Verfügung stehen. Die erhobenen Befunde und Messdaten müssen zuverlässig sein, da sie häufig die Grundlage für therapeutische Entscheidungen darstellen.
