Design, Modelling and Control of the Experimental Heat Transfer Set-Up

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Control and Information Sciences ((LNCIS,volume 388))

Summary

The paper deals with an experimental heat transfer set-up which has been designed for testing time delay system approaches in modelling and control design. First, the set-up is described and some implementation issues are discussed. Secondly, a time delay model of the set-up is presented, which consists of ten functional differential equations. The state variables of the model are identical with the measured outputs of the system. This convenient feature is used in the control design by state-variable feedback. The results of the set-up control are presented including the feedback design using the continuous pole placement method.
