Abstract

We are interested in providing databases with fuzzy data representation and flexible querying capabilities. This work concerns with a performance analysis based on statistical techniques to evaluate methods for fuzzy queries over fuzzy data. We introduce the application of Derivation Principle for this kind of queries and show its practical benefit using a prototype that we have built on top of Oracle’s DBMS.

This work was supported in part by the Venezuelan Foundation for Science, Innovation and Technology FONACIT Grant G-2005000278. Main reason of doing this scientific work is to glorify our lovely God: ”Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24).
