Abstract

Recent developments of tunable-frequency rare-gas excimer and exciplex oscillators have extended the range of laser radiation into the vacuum ultraviolet region. By third- and higher-order resonantly enhanced nonlinear processes, coherent radiation can be generated at wavelengths as short as 35nm (XUV). Applications of these new pulsed sources of short-wavelength coherent radiation are considered.
