Auszug
Durch die gramnegativen Diplokokken Neisseria meningitidis wird ein Syndrom aus Polyarthritis, Tenosynovitis, Fieber und Dermatitis verursacht (Mahowald 2003). Die Synovialitiden sind zumeist reaktiver Genese. In Einzelfällen konnten aber auch Meningokokken aus der Synoviaflüssigkeit kultiviert werden. Sehr selten wurden Meningokokken als Ursache einer bakteriell eitrigen Monarthritis isoliert, ohne dass weitere Hinweise für eine Meningokokkeninfektion bestanden.
