Die Konzepte von Profession und Professionalität werden immer stärker auf das allgemeine Verständnis von Arbeit und Arbeitnehmern in modernen Gesellschaften angewandt. Vertrauen, Autonomie und Kompetenz, die bislang als notwendige Voraussetzungen für professionelle Praxis erachtet wurden, werden jedoch kontinuierlich in Frage gestellt, verändert oder „reglementiert“. Dieses Paradoxon der Moderne gilt es zu umreißen und zu verstehen.
