Zusammenfassung

„We are all institutionalists now“. Mit diesem Satz beginnen Aspinwall und Schneider ihren Überblicksartikel zum „institutionalist turn“ in der Europaforschung (2000: 1). Der historische Institutionalismus ist Bestandteil dieses Wendepunktes und hat seinen Ursprung in der US-amerikanischen vergleichenden Politikund Systemforschung. Dort forderte man in den 1980er Jahren ein neues Verständnis von Institutionen ein (March/Olsen 1984, 1989).
