Zusammenfassung
Interviewer nehmen eine zentrale, aber oft unterschätze Rolle in der Umfrageforschung ein (Reinecke, Kapitel 44 in diesem Band). Blickt man jedoch genauer hin, dann übernehmen sie eine Reihe sehr wichtiger Aufgaben bei persönlichen (Stocké, Kapitel 45 in diesem Band) und telefonischen Umfragen (Hüfken, Kapitel 46 in diesem Band), die nachhaltige Auswirkungen auf die Qualität der erhobenen Umfragedaten haben können: Interviewer stellen meistens den ersten Kontakt mit den Befragten her und überzeugen sie, an der Umfrage teilzunehmen (Engel/Schmidt, Kapitel 23 in diesem Band). Während des Interviews administrieren sie oftmals komplexe Fragebögen, klären gegebenenfalls die Bedeutung von Fragen und zeichnen die Antworten der Befragten auf.
